BACK VOLLEY III – BALLOON

The volley of lob from the back of the court is a helpful tool to win the net, especially to players that:

  • Are great smashers.
  • Hold the net and do not allow the lob to pass.
  • Their position in the net is backward and they reach the deepest lobs comfortably.

In this video, we will see how to perform the shot technically and what criteria we must take into account to perform it.

Its performance is similar to the back volley, it has only one special feature, and in the moment of the hit is when we must:

  • Be lower than the ball.
  • Check the handle because we must have the padel racket with the impact side facing upwards.
  • Movement is ascending.
  • Completion is right at the top.

The stronger point of this shot is the decision to perform it because if we intend to do that, it will be easier to do it. It is clear that it has to be combined with a previous shot or you have to do the right play and also react very quickly (this is a characteristic of professionals), but if we lower it to an amateur level, you will surely have to perform a previous hit like a chiquita or a steady shot so that the player that is in the net blocks or plays upwards making an easy ball for the execution of the volley lob.

It is important to understand that this play is an additional resource to defend and win the net no matter how difficult it is.

My advice is to practice it, find the appropriate way to do it and analyze with which you feel more comfortable (forehand or backhand) and thus, add one more tool to our game.

I hope you practice it and make comments about your experience with it.

The next post will have plays and exercises to practice it.

Greetings!

RO.
